Web or local audio processing: choose your workflow

Decide where to work based on the recording, the device, and how you want to keep and share your projects.

Choose around the work

Start with the task: finishing an existing recording, recording a new take, or arranging a larger project. A convenient workflow for a single file may not be the best place to organize a longer editing session.

The web studio processes an uploaded working copy in the cloud. Desktop and mobile workflows use local processing. Review the current product pages for supported devices and features before choosing a workspace.

Plan where the project lives

Keep your original recording somewhere you control. A project file, an exported audio file, and an online account library serve different purposes. An export is useful for listening and sharing; it may not preserve the editable structure of a session.

Audio Fabric uses one account across its workspaces, but local desktop projects and mobile recordings do not automatically become files in the web library. Decide how you will move or back up work before you need it on another device.

Think about the handoff

If another person only needs to listen, provide an appropriate exported file rather than a folder full of working assets. If they need to continue editing, agree on the project format and dependencies first.

Our suggested delivery note includes a clear title, version, format, and purpose. Keep technical details that help the recipient, and leave internal file names out of the presentation.

Try a small project first

Run a short recording through your intended workflow. Check import, preview, export, and playback on the destination device. That trial reveals practical friction more reliably than a feature list alone.
